Today Porto Cristo is a popular holiday destination for families and those seeking peace and quiet. While you will find some small shops and supermarkets in Porto Cristo, the next larger city of Manacor offers for a long shopping day. Every Sunday the weekly market takes place. A highlight and historical feature of the place is the Torre des Falcons, a watchtower dating back to 1577. In the southeast of Mallorca you will also find beautiful coves and beaches on the east coast, to the beach of Es Trenc near Colonia de Sant Jordi, with its turquoise waters and fine sandy beach. In addition, there are places like Felanitx and Santanyi, which invite you to shop and linger. Santanyi is especially popular with German emigrants. From Colonia de Sant Jordi you can also book excursions to the small natural island of Cabrera - an absolute must-do! The southeast is still typical and impresses with a flat landscape that invites to hiking and cycling. Especially nice for a visit is the nature reserve Mondrago.
